Movie settings

Final Cut's Save dialog options permits you to define video movie settings (see step 6 at right).

Export Final Cut video for MCTV

Once you have completed your package, follow these instructions to output the file for the MCTV Newscast. Note: This is not the same file settings as what is required for Web publication. If you are outputting your file for the Web site, make sure you create TWO files. One will use the settings listed below, the other will need to be output using the settings specified for Web use.

  1. Click on your Timeline and make sure the Sequence containing Final Cut Save Dialogyour package is selected. (The bar above the Timeline should be light grey when selected.)
  2. Go to File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion… The “Save” window will open.
  3. In the “Save” window, name your project and select the location where the file will be saved (e.g. your hard drive). Note: When saving the file for the newscast, be sure to denote “TV” in the file name so that it can be identified in the folder on the Ross server. For example “mypackage_TV.mov”.
  4. At the bottom of the “Save” window, the Format should say “QuickTime Movie”. If not, select “QuickTime Movie” from the drop-down menu.
  5. Beneath the Format menu there will be a menu called “Use”. From the drop-down menu, select “LAN/Internet”.
  6. After selecting “LAN/Internet” click the “Options” button next to the Format menu. The “Movie Settings” window will open (see image at left). Final Cut Compressions Settings
  7. Click the “Settings” button at the top of the “Movie Settings” window. A new window will open. On the right-hand side of the window are the “Data Rate” settings. Change the “Data Rate” to 3000 kbits/sec. Click the “OK” button in the bottom right-hand corner of the window.
  8. Click the “Size” button in the “Movie Settings” window. A new window will open. There will be a “Dimensions” drop down menu in the new window. Select “1280 X 720 HD” from the drop down menu. Also, click the check-box next to the “Deinterlace Source Video” option so that it is selected. Click the “OK” button in the bottom right-hand corner of the window.
  9. In the bottom of the “Movie Settings” window, uncheck the check-box for “Prepare for Internet Streaming”. Click the “OK” button in the bottom right-hand corner of the window.
  10. In the bottom of the “Save” window, click the “Save” button. The file will begin to render. Depending on a number of variables, the rendering process may take several minutes.Final Cut Export Dialog
  11. When the file is complete, save the file to your respective folder on the Ross server.
